National Dance Week - a la Renzi

Here are several ways to celebrate National Dance Week, with a Renzi focus:

To savor swans in winter, check out Thaw, which is back up online on TenduTV.

Click here to view a short trailer of Where the Dance Is - the doc following teacher/choreographer/ comedian Doug Elkins as he works with Beacon high school students, that was selected by the Columbia Gorge International Film Festival August 18-22. This marks its first out of state screening!

Watch history below - in an archival video taken on July 27, 1983, at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, during the very first season of its Inside/Out series of informal performances.

You'll see a mini lecture-dem during which Peter Stathas and I dance two versions of For the Love of the Working, once to Bach and once to birdsong. Just overlook the careening camera, and you'll appreciate the dialog: the lady from the audience who references Gertrude Stein, and later regrets having asked for more tenderness, the encore we didn't have time to give - and me 25 years younger!

Support Jacob's Pillow by attending the June 19th Gala, where I'll be acting as auctioneer, helping raise money to refurbish the Inside Out stage, which I helped inaugurate umpteen seasons ago.
