ME & YOU - and Me!

My last post here ended with:
"let's make art in the suburbs!"

Well, it's already happening...

The first Rockland Filmmakers screening happens tomorrow, pairing my work (and work-in-progress) with that of playwright/filmmaker Samuel B. Harps. Dynamos David Kaminski and Matthew Seig have started a Rockland Filmmakers page on Vimeo and a group on Facebook.

And Sam is keeping the momentum going, with the screening of my short Cottonwood, Bamboo & Poison Ivy, followed by a Miranda July movie that local artist and Rivertown Film Society founder Kris Burns has long recommended: Me & You & Everyone We Know.  I'm also eager to see the Haverstraw Youth Theater - the building AND the folks themselves. More on Haverstraw Youth Theater.

Cottonwood itself was shot in nearby Garnerville during a live dance performance in and around the creek as part of the 2008 Gaga Arts Festival. You've missed the recent opening of Rocklander Michael Zansky's new oil paintings, but it's up till March 28. More on Gaga.

Amend that last post: "Let's SEE art in the suburbs!"
